Energy Shift

Am I the only person who felt it this week?

We've been in the middle of a Mercury retrograde that came in like a lion and is going out like a lamb. "Re"-trogrades are all about "re"-doing things, "re"-turning to past obstacles to test whether or not you've changed at how you handle them. It's a period that's ripe for fuck ups (beware relying too heavily on automobiles, computers -- anything electronic or relating to travel because it's bound to fuck up), but just as fertile for learning and growth.

I started my new weekly nightclub event (The X Show every Tuesday at RAGE in West Hollywood from 7:30 - 9:30 pm) on the same day that the Democrats returned to power, not to mention the same day that Britney broke up with K-Fed! What happened to you on Tuesday? Did you experience your own shift in energy?

My creative muse returned to me this week too, whispering things in my ear about "a new era," telling me that it's time to pick up Michael's sword (the archangel, not the boyfriend!) and go back into battle with not only my own inner demons, but the world at large. She's been asking me with every action I take, "Are you on your own side in this?" and that's a pretty powerful question that can cause a great deal of change.

Change is the word of the day. It's certainly been time for one, hasn't it? In America. In our collective consciousness. In our own souls. In our every day life. So what is it you're going to use His sword to slay and what are you going to defend? My list these days is as follows:

- To slay my desire to control others, be it their actions, their emotions, their perceptions of me, etc.
- To defend my God given talents and my faith in what I can achieve.
- To slay the negative grip of the past holding onto me.
- To defend the positive grip of the past holding onto me.
- To slay the idea that I have to be anything or anywhere other than where I am standing in the present.
- To slay the part of me that gives power to other people's opinions and perceptions of me and what I do.
- To slay the part of me that is not on my side.
- To defend my heart and its right to love effusively, its beautiful vulnerability.

In these last days of the retrograde, what will you slay and what will you defend?
